

Albert B. Knapp, MD, FACP, AGAF, is Clinical Professor of Medicine (Gastroenterology) at the New York University School of Medicine. He is an attending physician at the New York University Langone Medical Center, the Mount Sinai Hospital and the Lenox Hill Hospital. Dr. Knapp has been in private practice since 1985.
Dr. Knapp received his BA from Columbia College and his MD from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. He completed his postgraduate training in gastroenterology & hepatology (liver diseases) at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Harvard Medical School in Boston. Dr. Knapp is board certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is licensed to practice medicine in the state of New York.
Dr. Knapp is an internationally recognized expert and leader in the fields of gastroenterology, gastrointestinal endoscopy and hepatology. Dr. Knapp is a prolific medical writer and has authored over twenty major academic papers & reviews that have been published in a variety of journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, the Annals of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology as well as a basic textbook in the field of gastroenterology. Dr. Knapp has been involved in a variety of clinical research endeavors and has lectured on many important gastroenterological and hepatological topics in both the United States and Europe. Dr. Knapp has received numerous clinical and research awards over the years and has been frequently named a “top doctor” by New York Magazine, The New York Times and Castle Connolly.
Dr. Knapp’s other areas of interest include health care policy formulation and analysis. He serves as a science advisor to numerous government officials and has testified on several occasions in front of both United States Senatorial and Congressional Committees. Dr. Knapp is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Dr. Knapp has a long-standing and exclusive practice that serves both the United States and international communities. He and his staff are fluent in French, Italian and Spanish.
